Cataract FAQs
Can both eyes be treated in one procedure?
Your doctor will typically arrange the second procedure a few weeks following the first if you have cataracts in both eyes. Nonetheless, treating both eyes in a single treatment on the same day is becoming more and more typical.
How long do the effects of cataract surgery last?
Surgery for a cataract is permanent. The IOL can remain in the eye for the entirety of a person’s life without needing to be taken out or changed.
Will I need to have cataract surgery again?
Natural lenses are removed during cataract surgery and replaced with artificial ones that should last a lifetime and are not prone to degradation.
Are cataracts painful?
Although they don’t hurt, cataracts can be frustrating and uncomfortable since they make it harder to see well. They take decades to manifest symptoms, which appear gradually over time.
Is the surgery safe?
Currently, one of the safest surgical techniques is cataract surgery.
Can cataracts grow back?
No, your eye’s clouded lens is removed during cataract surgery and replaced with an artificial lens. After the natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial one, cataracts cannot regrow.
